Well, this escalated quickly
Loners talks about psychos - yes, it does
For me, every person that you & I (the society) regard as a ‘psycho’ or a ‘loner’ has a story to tell and motivations behind their actions
We might not agree with these motivations, and the results are more often than not devastating for people around them
But we can’t deny that the line between “Oh, this person is kind” and “Oh, this person is creepy” can be often blurry
Maybe because WE can also be ‘psychos’ or ‘creepers’, based on the context
This song explores this idea… Enjoy.
Roots is an instrumental song in the style of ‘rebetiko’
Its sonic story narrates the events of 100 years ago, when the Greeks of Asia Minor saw their houses burn to the ground and were forced to become immigrants
It was composed by Tragoe while in the immigrant city of Thessaloniki (a multi-cultural place full or rich - and painful - history)
Upon hearing the song, a good friend of Tragoe said:
“This is the most ‘metal’ folk song I’ve ever heard”
Maybe because the guitarist is a metal singer in a local Thessaloniki band?
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this rich tune that speaks no words but says everything.
